Modern Parenting

A Modern Family Lifestyle Coach and Global Parenting Expert with 15 years of industry experience.

By harnessing the principles of her Maternity Practitioner foundation, Whitney provides holistic support, ensuring that the cheat codes of successful parenting and nannying become universally accessible.

As modern families continue to evolve, it is the perfect time to call for a standard code of conduct across every level of the industry; a code that complements the nuances of 21st-century family life.

By implementing contemporary principles, all three pillars of the industry - parents, nannies and agencies - can reap the countless benefits of having revitalised industry fundamentals.

Through having a mutually developed set of policies that both nannies and agencies follow, we can propel our much-beloved and evolving industry forward - simply put, it’s time to root our foundations in compassion for nannies and dedication to maintaining healthy boundaries.

Modern Learning

Through Whittney’s accessible online or in-person coaching via her “Ask Whitt” portal.

Parents will also benefit from the modernisation of the industry as they learn how to parent with intent and confidence.

As the heads of the family, they will gain a much deeper understanding of how to create and sustain balance in their household - one of the essential components of effective parenting.

By transforming the industry, nannies will also benefit as they employ Whittney’s tried and tested techniques that protect their health and welfare. The aim is to support nannies through accessible coaching that will enhance the elite level of professionalism that they bring to their role.

The Problem

Then vs Now
Despite our modern times, there is still an archaic belief that when it comes to children, women are the primary caregivers. But you don’t have to look far to see a far more diverse and dynamic set of family structures that differ from the conventional “norm.” Yet our industry fails to consider the male perspective or experience in parenting.

Partnership
This is not a case of us vs them. Whether you’re a mother or a nanny, we are all here to give children the best life and experience possible and this cannot be done without collaboration. We must work together to dispel the illusion of competition in the mother-nanny dynamic and instead view each other as being part of a sisterhood, rather than opponents.

Carers need care
So long as nanny recruitment agencies continue to operate within outdated business frameworks, healthy boundaries that emphasise the well-being of nannies will not be considered as necessary. Such a blunder can lead to the continued belief that experiencing mental or physical distress is an inevitable part of the job.

We know better, so let's do better
The nanny industry has long been considered a personal service carried out on private property. To that end, there has been a significant lack of Government-backed legislation which has continuously failed to provide necessary legal support and boundaries for nannies. This cannot continue!

The solution

Ask Whitt

The foundation
By collectively creating a new global standard based on safety, humanity and empathy, we, whether as parents, nannies and agencies, can leverage our experience and understanding to evolve the industry and become the change we want to see in the world.

Ask Whitt

Boundaries
Creating and applying clear boundaries for parents and nannies will set a positive tone and foster a more collaborative and productive environment in the workplace.

Working together
Agencies and other third parties should be more proactive in supporting both parents and nannies alike. Terms like “introduction agency only” are not only obsolete, but also lack a holistic approach.

Reform
Revamping the industry will not be an easy task and will require time, dedication and backing from all three pillars, as well as the government. Change always comes with resistance, but Whittney is prepared to push back and to fight for what everyone in the industry deserves.
